5 Things

5 Things I could be doing right now instead of working:
1. Watching paint dry
2. Walking over hot coals
3. Discuss politics… not really, I'd rather work
4. Squishing a spider…. just got the willies…
5. Watch 90210 (torture)

5 Things I'd rather be doing than work:1. Playing with my pup
2. Working on my knitting so I can finish it before Linley's little girl is born
3. Sitting in the sun soaking it up before the snow/rain expected on Saturday
4. Going to see a movie at the theater but not paying the exorbitant theater prices.
5. Learning guitar
5 Things I really wish I could be doing:
1. Flying to a new place to excavate at an ancient archaeological site
2. Scratching the million dollar winning lottery ticket
3. Taking a hot air baloon ride
4. Hiking in New Zealand
5.. Working as an extra on the Hobbit

Hobbies?

I find myself with a bit of writers blog... hehe. Forgive the horrible wordplay. The reason I don't write a daily blog is because well, lets face it, my job is very boring. I would write more often if I had more interesting things to write about. Alas, my current situation inhibits my material.

I know what you're thinking... I probably need to get a hobby. Well, it just so happens, I have recently taken up knitting. Yes, another riveting topic that I don't want to bore my 7 little readers with.

Well, I do have my dog, who often keeps our lives interesting but he's been fairly well behaved, of late, except the shoe that he destroyed today, however that episode was short lived and entirely uneventful.

It seems I need a hobby that involves people. People have quirks, idiosyncrasies, annoyances that can be turned into interesting observances. Then again, do I really need to be annoyed with a bunch of quirky idiots! I jest.

Well, for now I'll have to focus on finding some interesting topics to keep my few readers engaged. Until then... Comments? Questions? Suggestions?

Lycosi... what?!

Caution: If you hate creepy crawlies as much as I do you may want to skip this post!

Hi, my name is Tara and I'm an arachnaphobic…

I HATE spiders. I mean seriously absolutely, positively HATE them. Could God have made them any creepier?! Eight legs, multiple eyes, some hairy, ALL UGLY! From the tiny to the tarantula size they all give me the creeps. Oh sure, people tell me "but they help because they eat the other pests", yeah yeah, you say that but when you find a large Lycosidae - Hogna in your garage! Lycosidae is the biological family name of the wolf spider. Hogna is the genus as explained to me by Dr. Paula Cushing of the Denver Musuem of Nature and Science. This is what Marc found in a 5 gallon bucket in our garage when he was digging stuff out of it

Disgusting right?!! If you aren't creeped out by it, you're not normal in my book! That was about the size of a fifty scent piece. And that's just what it looks like in its dead curled up form! Check this out for a live version

Although the one Marc found was dead, it didn’t make it any less freaky!. I mean that thing was alive when it crawled in there! That means it was alive crawling it's little happy spider butt around my garage and in my other things! UGH!!! I just wanna keep spiders out of my house and surrounding bubble. Is that really so much for me to ask?!
