30th Wedding Anniversary

Today we celebrated my parent's 30th Wedding Anniversary. It was a wonderful celebration! There was great food, great family and friends and of course a great cake! (Stephanie's brownies were also quite awesome!) The weather was beautiful (a little hot) but there was a nice breeze for most of the day. I love spending time with my family because that's what makes life so wonderful. Especially since we're going to be adding to that family soon!

But getting back to my parents... 30 years is quite an accomplishment for anyone and I'm so proud of mom and dad for such an achievement. As I was not able to help financially with this bash, my small gift to my parents was to give a speech in their honor. I kinda got weepy at the end so I was only able to eek out a part of my last sentiments. I have pasted my speech in its entirety below:

Someone once said… A great marriage is not when the 'perfect couple' comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences. Because, after all, nobody’s perfect. This is something I think mom and dad have perfected over 30 years.

30 yrs is a long time to spend with someone without wanting to strangle them at one time or another J Just like every marriage there have been good times and hard times. Growing up watching my parents I’ve learned many things from them about life, love and marriage.

I’ve learned that in life you don’t always get what you want and you have to make the best with what you have be grateful for each and every moment

I’ve learned that in love, it isn’t always easy, you have to take the good with the bad and sometimes, you have to add a little spice.

And about marriage, they’ve taught me how to argue J or how not to argue depending on your perspective J I’m only kidding… They’ve taught me forgiveness. In order for a marriage to last 30 years and beyond, there has to be forgiveness.

As I said, 30 years is a long time… but it can pass like the turning of a page.

Here’s to the next chapter in your marriage. May it be full of love, laughter and happiness shared with the family that surrounds you.

Today I'm going to start a new feature. In an effort to to post more, I've set myself up to be able to text a post. (Don't laugh, I'm still a novice blogger). So I will deem this new feature: Funny of the Day!

Today's FOTD comes as I'm sitting on hold with a company with "American" in their business name. The personalized informative hold voice is a British woman's voice!

Milestones

This year, (that we have already made it halfway through!) is to be a year of milestones. Starting this month. Tomorrow will be my beautiful mom's 50th birthday! I'm so proud of my mom. She's done so much in the past year alone to make things better for herself. She's in shape and looking good :) Although we won't be celebrating tomorrow, we'll be celebrating on June 26 for her birthday and my parents 30th wedding anniversary, yet another milestone! Now this milestone has had a few bumps along the way but they've made it there thankfully without bloodshed :) So we plan to make June 26 a party to remember!

Another milestone to occur in December is that Sara and I will be turning 30! Oh my God! I'm going to be 30!!! Well, there's really nothing to be done about that! Sara wanted to go to this facility that has fun gladiator like games but I kinda ruined that with my other milestone news. I hereby announce that I'm gonna be a mama in December! Currently 13 weeks along and so far so good. My midwife says now I can start gaining weight. Not like I don't eat! But still, not a pound! Picture me like this:
